To mark the bicentennial anniversary of their “First Government National Juntas” (1810-2010), the Chilean and Argentinean Navies have joined forces to organize a Continental naval event. This event compliments other celebratory activities taking place at the same time in each country to honor this momentous historical occasion that opened the way to independent life for both nations.
In order to add to the other festivities being programmed, an “International Gathering and Regatta of Tall Ships” has been planned. Brigantines, Frigates, Corvettes and Schooners from different countries, both military and civilian, will navigate the seas of South America creating an unforgettable adventure for all participants.
The sailing vessels that accept this wonderful challenge will have the opportunity to visit cities and ports which are typical of South America. They will have the opportunity to put into places that are symbolic to mariners of all times. These will include the “End of the Earth Lighthouse” located on “Staten Island” and the circumnavigation of “Cape Horn”.
This extraordinary sailing experience will be a positive contribution toward the mariner skills of the crews of participating ships and make them authentic Cape Horner’s.
